1:00 PM - 3:00 PM    York County Area Agency On Aging Classes - A Matter of Balance
MATTER OF BALANCE:This is a program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. Because many people experience a fear of falling, they often limit their activities, which can result in physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater. This program will help achieve and overcome that fear.The class is taught by staff from the York County Area Agency on Aging.DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT:  This program will discuss action planning, decision making, dealing with difficult emotions, healthy eating, exercise, communication skills, using your mind & more! Participants are 60+ living with type 2 diabetes or 60+ caregiver of someone living with type 2 diabetes.CHRONIC DISEASE SELF-MANAGEMENT PROGRAM - LOOKING BEYOND MY CONDITION:CDSMP was developed by Stanford University.  It's a self-management education workshop attended for people with a variety of chronic health conditions like arthritis, pain, hypertension, cancer and more.  It aims to build participants' confidence in managing their health by providing tools like healthy eating, stress management, dealing with difficult emotions, action planning and more.HEALTHY STEPS IN MOTION (HSIM) - This is a more exercise-focused fall prevention program.  It starts with a warm-up, followed by strength and balance exercises.  It ends with a cool-down stretch.  Resistance bands are introduced in session #3.  There are 3 levels of exercise to enable participants to continue HSIM for as long as they like.  Participants receive a guide with the exercises and resource information.  HSIM strives to reduce the risk of falling by building body strength, increasing flexibility and improving balance.CHRONIC PAIN SELF MANAGEMENT- This is an evidence-based program designed to give participants tools to manage their pain and the difficult emotions that come with the disease. Topics include healthy eating, exercise, using your mind, communication skills, action planning, pace and planning, medications and more.

ZUMBA GOLD:  is a modified Zumba class for active older adults that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity.  The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination.SILVER AND FIT:  is a low intensity, low impact workout designed for those with joint challenges.  Through the use of props such as weights and resistance bands, you will perform exercises to help increase joint flexibility, range of motion and build muscle strength.CHAIR YOGA:  move through seated and standing yoga poses to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion. A chair is used to meet a variety of fitness levels.POUND and BODYPUMP:  is a combo class giving you a half hour of each POUND and BODYPUMP.  POUND is a high energy class that combines cardio, strength training and Pilates with drumming to achieve full-body wokrout, usign lightly weighted RIPSTIX.  BODYPUMP is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body.  This workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the west weight-room exercies like squats, presses, lifts and curls.  POUND: is a full body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates inspired movements. Shuffleboard has become a popular indoor activity and can be played by everyone! If you can push a broom, then you can play shuffleboard.

VALENTINE GNOME STAND UP CRAFT PROJECT:  This fun gnome paint project is simple for anyone to create. Several wood layers are painted and then you glue them together to create this LOVELY gnome.  Approximate size is 20"x8".  The gnome plaque is manufactured by The Wandering WoodCraft.SUCCULENT STAINED GLASS CLASS:  Using the Tiffany Style of stained glass you will foil and solder your 3D succulent.  Pieces are precut and grinded. You may use your teacup or ours and fill. These are easy and fun to make and don't require you to water them! All supplies are included and you will take them home the night of class.SURF BOARD PAINT NIGHT:  Surf's Up! Ride the wave of creativity with our kids surfboard paint party. Theresa with Joyful Art Experiences will help you catch the wave of creativity to produce your unique masterpiece.  Choose from: turtle, shark or flowers.  Participants will each paint a wooden surfboard. Surfboards are approximately 16"x7". Parents ARE required to stay (Sign up to paint with your child or relax and observe their creative process).

This program will help achieve and overcome that fear.The class is taught by staff from the York County Area Agency on Aging.DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT:  This program will discuss action planning, decision making, dealing with difficult emotions, healthy eating, exercise, communication skills, using your mind & more! Participants are 60+ living with type 2 diabetes or 60+ caregiver of someone living with type 2 diabetes.CHRONIC DISEASE SELF-MANAGEMENT PROGRAM - LOOKING BEYOND MY CONDITION:CDSMP was developed by Stanford University.  It's a self-management education workshop attended for people with a variety of chronic health conditions like arthritis, pain, hypertension, cancer and more.  It aims to build participants' confidence in managing their health by providing tools like healthy eating, stress management, dealing with difficult emotions, action planning and more.HEALTHY STEPS IN MOTION (HSIM) - This is a more exercise-focused fall prevention program.  It starts with a warm-up, followed by strength and balance exercises.  It ends with a cool-down stretch.  Resistance bands are introduced in session #3.  There are 3 levels of exercise to enable participants to continue HSIM for as long as they like.  Participants receive a guide with the exercises and resource information.  HSIM strives to reduce the risk of falling by building body strength, increasing flexibility and improving balance.CHRONIC PAIN SELF MANAGEMENT- This is an evidence-based program designed to give participants tools to manage their pain and the difficult emotions that come with the disease. Basic handgun Training:This class will teach firearm ownership responsibility, facing an imminent threat (perpetrator), multiple shooting stances, shooting defensively, handgun action types, draw stroke from a concealed position, racking the slide, holsters, loading/unloading, grip, causes of firearm accidents, ammo storage and more.Attack, Prevent Being Victimized: This is a 3 hour course providing you with the skill-set and training to not be an easy target. ZUMBA GOLD:  is a modified Zumba class for active older adults that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity.  The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination.SILVER AND FIT:  is a low intensity, low impact workout designed for those with joint challenges.  Through the use of props such as weights and resistance bands, you will perform exercises to help increase joint flexibility, range of motion and build muscle strength.CHAIR YOGA:  move through seated and standing yoga poses to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion. MATTER OF BALANCE:This is a program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. Because many people experience a fear of falling, they often limit their activities, which can result in physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater. This program will help achieve and overcome that fear.The class is taught by staff from the York County Area Agency on Aging.DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT:  This program will discuss action planning, decision making, dealing with difficult emotions, healthy eating, exercise, communication skills, using your mind & more! Participants are 60+ living with type 2 diabetes or 60+ caregiver of someone living with type 2 diabetes.CHRONIC DISEASE SELF-MANAGEMENT PROGRAM - LOOKING BEYOND MY CONDITION:CDSMP was developed by Stanford University.  It's a self-management education workshop attended for people with a variety of chronic health conditions like arthritis, pain, hypertension, cancer and more.  It aims to build participants' confidence in managing their health by providing tools like healthy eating, stress management, dealing with difficult emotions, action planning and more.HEALTHY STEPS IN MOTION (HSIM) - This is a more exercise-focused fall prevention program.  It starts with a warm-up, followed by strength and balance exercises.  It ends with a cool-down stretch.  Resistance bands are introduced in session #3.  There are 3 levels of exercise to enable participants to continue HSIM for as long as they like.  Participants receive a guide with the exercises and resource information.  HSIM strives to reduce the risk of falling by building body strength, increasing flexibility and improving balance.CHRONIC PAIN SELF MANAGEMENT- This is an evidence-based program designed to give participants tools to manage their pain and the difficult emotions that come with the disease. Participants are 60+ living with type 2 diabetes or 60+ caregiver of someone living with type 2 diabetes.CHRONIC DISEASE SELF-MANAGEMENT PROGRAM - LOOKING BEYOND MY CONDITION:CDSMP was developed by Stanford University.  It's a self-management education workshop attended for people with a variety of chronic health conditions like arthritis, pain, hypertension, cancer and more.  It aims to build participants' confidence in managing their health by providing tools like healthy eating, stress management, dealing with difficult emotions, action planning and more.HEALTHY STEPS IN MOTION (HSIM) - This is a more exercise-focused fall prevention program.  It starts with a warm-up, followed by strength and balance exercises.  It ends with a cool-down stretch.  Resistance bands are introduced in session #3.  There are 3 levels of exercise to enable participants to continue HSIM for as long as they like.  Participants receive a guide with the exercises and resource information.  HSIM strives to reduce the risk of falling by building body strength, increasing flexibility and improving balance.CHRONIC PAIN SELF MANAGEMENT- This is an evidence-based program designed to give participants tools to manage their pain and the difficult emotions that come with the disease. Topics include healthy eating, exercise, using your mind, communication skills, action planning, pace and planning, medications and more.

Take an American Red Cross Class and become certified in CPR or the Babysitter's Training.ARC BABYSITTER'S TRAINING - This American Red Cross class will provide youth who are planning to baby sit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. Learn about leadership, decision making, age group characteristics, safety on the job, including basic first aid and choking skills.  Use infant manikins to learn infant care skills.  Activities and skill sessions are used to reinforce the knowledge gained.ARC ADULT & PEDIATRIC CPR, FIRST AID & AED - BLENDED LEARNING - The American Red Cross 2021 Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED blended leartning course equips students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants.  It is designed for students who need a certification that satisfies OSHA workplace or other regulatory requirements.  This class is taught in a blended learning format and the online portion (Accessed via mobile desktop or tablet) must be completed prior to attending the instructor -led skill skills session.
